The Arab Center for the Independence of Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP) organizes a workshop on “Egyptian Women and the presidential elections in 2012" on Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 until February 22nd, 2012 – Cairo at 10:00 pm.
The workshop comes within the framework of the ACIJLP’s activities on the project “Support Women Involvement in Public Life” which will continue over two years, with financial support from the European Union, and includes a number of conferences, workshops, seminars, relevant research papers and training courses.
50 legal professionals, media figures and human rights activists will participate in the workshop.
The workshop discusses many topics related to presidential elections and the participation of Egyptian women in the presidential elections such as legislative situation in Egypt regarding women's participation in the presidential election, the views of political parties and their programs on supporting women’s nomination the presidential election, and the nature of the current parliament and its impact on women's participation in the elections. The workshop will also discuss the strategies for civil Society Organizations to support the participation of women in the presidential election in terms of the possibility of women’s nomination in the elections and identifying the most important mechanisms and legislation that must be developed in light of the changes caused by the 25th, January Revolution in the Egyptian society.
