Military Governor Rejects the Appeals of the Condemned
in the Joker lawsuit
The military governor has ruled in the state security criminal case no. 653 of 2021, known in the media as the "Joker" case, in which 131 defendants were accused, and in which the court ruled to acquit 21 defendants on January 15, 2023, sentencing the rest to sentences ranging from life sentence to imprisonment for various periods: five to fifteen years. The military governor’s decision came as follows:
First: Confirming all imprisonment rulings issued in January 2023 session as well as rejecting all related appeals submitted.
Second: Rejecting ratification of innocence rulings issued at the same session and retrying the accused before other circuit.
