The ACIJLP Calls upon the President of the Constitutional Court in his capacity as the current president of Egypt to adopt programs and mechanisms of transitional justice in Egypt and avoid resorting to any extraordinary measures

The Arab Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP) calls upon the Egyptian President present, to undertake its responsibilities on safe transmission of the Egyptian society to democracy and freedom in a safe and peaceful manner and take the necessary measures in order to pass legislation, adopting programs and mechanisms  of transitional justice as safe and specified way for transition from tyranny and its effects, witnessed in the past decade, to democracy and freedom for which the 25th January revolution occurred and completed its goals on 30 June 2013, a matter which will have the great effect in national reconciliation and accountability and non-recurrence of the previous gross violations of human rights in Egypt and institutional reform, as well as compensate for martyrs and Victims of the Revolution, and honor the memory of the martyrs and to fact - finding.

The ACIJLP calls upon the Egyptian president, to avoid resorting to the use of any extraordinary measures or procedures, that would prejudice safeguards and standards of fair and equitable trials or breach of human rights and fundamental freedoms which Egypt has committed to respect through the ratification of the commitments and approval of the relevant international covenants.

The ACIJLP also confirms its demand for the need to take immediate and urgent action at all levels of the governmental and non-governmental institutions of the Egyptian state to adopt standards of tolerance, reconciliation and re-building of political, social and human rights pillars and the establishment of the foundations of national reconciliation in order to protect society from chaos and desire for revenge. This protection should be rigorous on everyone and have the spirit of tranquility and common justice and stability, through the issuance of laws dealing with the current situation, and these laws stemming from the interest and need people, and lay the foundations of democracy.

The ACIJLP points out that there is no way to achieve national reconciliation, without a genuine desire and political will towards the adoption of programs and mechanisms of transitional justice.

The ACIJLP calls upon the Egyptian president to expedite the adoption of programs and mechanisms of transitional justice and seek to pass legislation to adopt these mechanisms, as soon as possible, so as the events will not be accelerated in a way that may hinder the safe transition to democracy.
