The ACIJLP Calls upon the formation of impartial and independent investigation committee of the Egyptian regime's involvement in crimes against humanity
The Arab Center for Independence of the Judiciary and Legal Professions (ACIJLP) expresses its full condemnation of all forms of violence, witnessed by the Egyptian arena at this time, which resulted killing 5 of demonstrators and hundreds wounded persons on Wednesday, 5th December 2012 in front of and around el-Etehadya palace the official residence of the Egyptian president.
The ACIJLP has many doubts concerning the involvement of the Egyptian regime, in the commission of murder, attempted murder, causing injury and arrest of citizens unlawfully by organized groups belong to the same trend of the Egyptian President without taking any measures to protect the right of demonstrators to life, or preventing these organized groups from committing her crime, a matter which makes these crimes come within the scope of crimes against humanity Punishable according to international commitments and covenants.
The ACIJLP holds the Egyptian government full responsibility for causing the crimes of murder, attempted murder, severe injuries and arrests that took place against peaceful demonstrators, by organized groups. The ACIJLP also holds the Egyptians President, the Minister of the Interior, the Freedom and Justice Party and the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood the responsibility.
The ACIJLP calls upon the formation of impartial and independent investigation committee unaffiliated to the Ministry of Justice nor the Public prosecutor’s Office to ensure its impartiality and independence to uncover the circumstances of the crime against humanity that took place against peaceful demonstrators, to detect those involved in the commission of this crime, and judicial prosecution and accountability in fair trials.
The ACIJLP is concerned about the increasing levels of violence in Egypt, leading to the increasing rates of violation of the right to life, as a result of the indigence of Egyptian authorities concerned to take the necessary actions and measures to protect the right to life and reduce the increasing levels of violence
