Twenty-two human rights activists from Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco participated in this seminar as well as number of leading media, human rights and public figures. The seminar aimed at training human rights defenders from North Africa on the usage of regional and international mechanisms defending human rights, through informing them about international human rights mechanisms, exchanging experience, promoting communication and solidarity between human rights defenders from these countries. Participants expressed their will to continue their role in defending human rights issues in the Arab region which are being subjected to attacks because of 11 September attack on USA in 2001. They also expressed that citizens and human rights are the only victims of these incidents which need to be provided with all support. Additionally, Participants assured that the terror incidents should not be a text to persecute human rights which adopted by international instruments as well as supporting these rights would eliminate terrorism. |
